Privacy Policy
Effective September 18, 2026
The short version: Civics Audio Prep doesn’t collect, store, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
What this policy covers
This policy covers Civics Audio Prep (“the app”) for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android, and the web version on this site. Civics Audio Prep is an independent, open-source study tool for the U.S. naturalization civics test.
Information we collect
None. We don’t ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and there are no accounts to create. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting code, and it never sends anything to us.
What stays on your device
To remember where you left off, the app saves a few things on your device:
- your settings, such as study language, speaking speed, pause length, category, shuffle, and auto-advance
- which questions you’ve marked as known
- your recent practice test scores
This information is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. To erase it, delete the app, or on the website, clear this site’s data in your browser. You can also clear your known marks at any time in Settings.
If you use device backups such as iCloud Backup or Android backup, they may include this app data, as they do for most apps. Apple or Google handles those backups under your account, and we can’t access them.
Internet access
The iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android apps don’t connect to the internet. All 128 questions, the translations, and every feature are built into the app, so it works fully offline. The Android app doesn’t even have permission to use the internet.
Text-to-speech
Questions and answers are read aloud by the text-to-speech voices built into your device or web browser. The app gives the speech engine only the question and answer text it is about to read.
Some speech engines, such as the online voices offered by some web browsers, send that text to their provider’s servers to produce the audio. That text is only the public civics questions and answers, never information about you.
Notifications on Android
On Android, the app asks for permission to show notifications. It uses this only to show playback controls while it reads questions aloud.
This website
This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. The site also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers to download them. See the Cloudflare and Google privacy policies for how they handle this information.
Sharing and selling
We don’t sell, rent, or share personal information, because we don’t collect any.
Children
The app doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your choices
Because we don’t collect or keep any personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. The information saved on your device is fully under your control, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes how it handles information, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top.
